Maria Blondeel (1963, BE) is an intermedia artist based in Ghent, Belgium. She studied painting at Sint-Lukas Academy in Brussels and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, and has additional degrees in computer technology, photography and sound design. Led by a fascination for the intangible phenomena of light and sound, Maria Blondeel analyses acoustical concepts under the impact of recent technology, computer programs, sound systems and methods of sonification. Since 2016, she received recognition for her blueprints and sound art. Her work has been shown in galleries, museums and festivals in Europe, the U.S.A. and Asia.
