Salam Atta Sabri
Salam Atta Sabri is one of the most important Iraqi artists of his generation. Through his father, Atta Sabri, an artist trained in London during the Second World War – Salam nfrom a young age was introduced to the work of various (Western) artists, such as Van Gogh and Goya, through the art books in his father's studio.
Atta Sabri has a BFA in Ceramics from California State University in Los Angeles, but also produces sculptures, paintings and drawings. He lived in the United States for sixteen years then in Jordan, before returning in 2005 to Baghdad, the city of his birth, where he continues to live and work.
